Experience the ritual of bathing at the 7132 Thermal Baths, one of Switzerland’s most impressive spa havens
Every designer and wellness enthusiast’s dream, the 7132 Thermal Baths in Switzerland are everything and more than you could ever imagine. Architects and spa lovers from all over the world flock to the small village of Vals in Graubuenden to bathe and laze away the day in the hot thermal springs, famous for its healing minerals.
The remote village (yes, it can take a while to get here) is a picturesque valley dotted with chalets that reach all the way up to the mountain ridges. However, it is the spa (built over the only thermal springs in the canton of Graubuenden) and the uber-luxe and ultra chic 7132 Hotel attached to it that give it its attraction factor.
Designed by award-winning starchitect Peter Zumthor (he won the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2009), the wellness temple is of timeless quality and offers a complete sensory experience. A mystical oasis, the interior is a minimalist maze of stone and healing waters with sharp 90-degree angles.

Built from layer upon layer of dark grey Valser quartzite, Zumthor created a number of hidden high-ceilinged, almost cave-like, spaces around the two main pools (30°C), one of them being inside and one outside.
Even though the elegant wellness haven plays with visuals, temperatures (the fire pool boasts 42°C and the ice pool 14°C), and sounds (there’s a dark echo chamber), at the end of the day, the 7132 Thermal Baths invite you to while away the day and do absolutely nothing, giving you space to simply be. Especially in our growingly busy culture, it is vital that once in a while we allow ourselves to veg out, to rejuvenate and to gather our thoughts and emotions. Guests can also enjoy ESPA spa treatments, but given the limited time, I would suggest spending it in the thermal baths instead.

While the interiors of the 7132 Thermal Baths create a highly sensuous and restorative experience, designed to soothe the senses and to envelope and nurture our tired bodies and minds, the indoor pool then leads you outside into the wide-open mountainous space. Here you simply marvel at Mother Nature’s beauty and spend time observing how your mind, body and soul respond to her call.

Weekends are very popular and the 7132 Thermal Baths only allow a certain number of people to enter at the same time, which is another great reason to book a stay at 7132 Hotel, as hotel guests have a guaranteed entry throughout the entire day.
