The Chedi Andermatt

Alpine chic meets Asian Zen in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The Chedi Andermatt is just under two hours from Zurich and provides an idyllic mountain setting for a luxurious and memorable wellbeing escape

OVERVIEW

The Chedi Andermatt provides an idyllic mountain setting for a luxurious and memorable wellbeing escape. The five-star property is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and features a truly distinct look designed by architect Jean-Michel Gathy who has worked on projects at Aman and One&Only. From the outside, the hotel mirrors a traditional wooden chalet and the interior combines alpine chic with modern Asian design touches, which extend throughout the hotel, spa and rooms. Ski season is peak time for the hotel. Apres ski you will find most people in the bars or spa. The spa offers a unique approach to wellness, mixing Eastern inspired therapies with cutting-edge European treatments.

WELLNESS RETREATS

Adding to The Chedi’s popular yoga and Buddhist retreats, in 2018, French slimming experts from Les Thermes De Brides-les-Bains bring their expertise to the hotel for a series of personalised retreats in the Alps. Brides-les-Bains has been treating clients with its innovative slimming programme for over 30 years. It treats over 18,000 guests every year at its home in France. Its award-winning methodology is based on five principles: mountain water, alpine air, physical activity, nutrition and therapeutic rituals. The seven- and 14-night bespoke Slimming Lifestyle Retreats at The Chedi combine specialized therapeutic body treatments and daily physical activity with interactive educational talks, and nutritional advice to promote weight loss at the retreat and at home.

HEALTHY FOOD

The food on the retreats is light, healthy, nutritious and satisfying whilst offering the quality of taste and presentation that guests would expect from a five-star resort. The programme has been designed by a nutritional therapist and head chef and is healthy and delicious. Calorie control is important to success, but the team focus more on what people eat and in what combination, together with physical output. Each meal is nutritionally balanced, contains each of the food groups, is satisfying but only provides around 500 calories.

RATES

Rooms start from 500CHF, so approx. US$520 for a Deluxe Room with breakfast.

The Slimming Lifestyle Retreat starts from CHF 5’050 for the 7-night programme and CHF 10,440 for the 14-night programme. The prices are per person and based on a stay in a Deluxe Room (double occupancy)

WHAT WE LOVE

The hotel design is outstanding and you won’t want to leave. Relaxing by the pool gazing at the mountains is a must. But do head outside and hike in the hills. The fresh mountain is divine.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

You can come by car or train and it’s best to head to Zurich and travel from there. The Slimming Retreat includes an incredible list of daily activities and spa therapies. It’s excellent value, despite the high price tag.

ROOMS

The 123 rooms and suites are exceptional. High ceilings and spacious rooms offer a cosy alpine retreat, anytime of the year.

POOL

The 35-meter indoor pool is ideal for swimming lengths and the perfect backdrop for Instagram-ready posts. The outdoor pool and sun loungers look to the mountains and on the lower levels of the spa there’s another heated pool.

SPA

The award-winning spa and health club is one of the main attractions at The Chedi and is a grand celebration of both alpine and Asian design. Set over three floors, the spa is chic without being clichéd. The spa is deeply rooted in Far-Eastern philosophy and celebrates the art of traditional Asian healing in the spa menu. ila, REN and the organic products of Alpienne bring the spa themes to life in an extensive treatment menu.

TRAVEL IN STYLE

Smart casual for lunch. Dress up for dinner. During the day athleisure works perfectly.
