Now, Chiva-Som International Health Resort is bringing its brand of holistic health retreats to Qatar. Set to open in the second quarter of 2020, Zulal Wellness Resort will be the Middle East’s first full-service wellness resort and the world’s first center for Traditional Arabic Integrative Medicine.

The new resort is owned by Msheireb Properties, Qatar’s leading real estate developer. Chiva-Som has been appointed to oversee the resort. This represents the first time that the wellness resort brand is expanding overseas.

Set in a serene location in Khasooma, a coastal area in north Qatar, Zulal Wellness Resort is underpinned by the idea that wellness is appropriate for all ages. While Chiva-Som’s trademark adults-only retreats will be available here, the resort will also offer a host of family-friendly features.
Spread across 280,000sqm, the heart of Zulal Wellness Resort will be a Family Wellness Resort with 120 guestrooms and suites and a menu of activities that allow parents and children to bond through learning effective wellness practices. Next door, the Wellness Resort will house 60 adults-only suites and villas catering to individuals and couples seeking to indulge in Chiva-Som’s world-class wellness programs and state-of-the-art international treatments.

Both sections of Zulal Wellness Resort will cater to a discerning global audience while offering a taste of local culture. Here, international level service meets traditional Qatari hospitality; cutting-edge architecture is inspired by local heritage; and a specially developed menu of wellness cuisine is infused by Arabic and Mediterranean flavors. The word “Zulal” refers to purified water and is inspired by Qatar’s desert heritage. In the desert, water is the source of all life. In keeping with this theme, Msheireb Properties designed the resort to reflect the idea of a desert oasis. Throughout, meditative water features and serene ponds are nestled in tranquil walled gardens. The new resort will also adhere to Chiva-Som’s core principles with sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices at its core.
