Like out of the pages of a fairytale, Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai boasts the opulence and impressiveness of a royal Thai palace that includes an ancient city, complete with rice paddies, colonial mansions and Lanna houses. A wellness retreat that architecturally takes you back in time to the region’s Lanna period (13th-16thcentury), Dhara Dhevi spreads out over 60 acres of fragrant natural landscapes. Chiang Mai’s only luxury hotel where you can enjoy spa, wellness and the rich cultural heritage of the Lanna Kingdom, Dhara Dhevi offers a wide range of wellness programs and holistic therapies, such as meditation, qigong, ayurvedic treatments, and massages, combining royal experiences with wellness and spirituality.
Dhara Dhevi offers 3- to 21-day wellness immersions, and guests can choose from a range of wellness retreats, including Ayurvedic Rejuvenation, Stress Management, Weight Management, Women’s Health, Back Pain, Spa Vitality, Rest and Restore, Fitness, Meditation, and The Dheva Beauty. All wellness journeys begin with an initial lifestyle assessment, followed by a holistic health consultation with Energy Field Imaging (EFI). The wellness consultant will also advise on your dosha (body type) and carefully go through your treatment line-up, nutrition recommendation and aftercare program with you.
The resort’s majestic design draws from the architectural and cultural influences of the region’s historic Lanna period. The villas resemble luxurious two-storey Thai houses with spacious terraces and private pools, and the beautiful interior design blends culture with modernity, featuring old Thai silks and textiles from local hill-tribes.
The Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre, which greets visitors with a spectacular seven-tier lobby of ornately carved teakwood, also features various Buddhist motifs recreated from the original Burmese temple in Mandalay, Myanmar, and sculptures represent sacred animals.
Guests can choose from a long list of restaurants that serve up delicious food. There is authentic Thai dining at Le Grand Lanna, international breakfasts and Sunday Jazz brunch at Akaligo, French fine dining at Farang Ses, regional Chinese dishes and dim sum lunches at Fujian, hearty Italian homemade meals at Allegro, light lunches and cocktails at Colonial Pool Bar, snacks and drinks in a wonderful poolside setting at Loy Kham Bar, evening cocktails and a striking design at Horn Bar, and tea and cake at Dhara Dhevi Cake Shop.
A Spa Suite or Vegetable Garden Villa starts at US$400 a night. The rates and room styles vary and can go all the way up to US$26,500 per night for the Royal Residence with Pool (which sleeps 8 people).
A 3-night Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Retreat in a Spa Suite or Villa starts at US$2,260 or US$2,740 in a Deluxe Villa.
