In a wellness landscape increasingly defined by noise, novelty, and fast fixes, Diana Nicoli offers something quieter and far more enduring: depth.
Her work is not about escape, but about return — to the body, to emotional clarity, and to a way of being that feels sustainable long after a retreat ends. Rooted in presence, emotional safety, and discernment, Nicoli’s approach aligns seamlessly with the intention behind the Destination Deluxe Signature Retreat series, which following Marrakesh now continues in Vietnam at Namia River Retreat in Hoi An.
Following the recent Marrakesh retreat, the next Destination Deluxe Signature Retreat with Diana Nicoli will take place from 26–30 September 2026 at Namia River Retreat in Hoi An, Vietnam. This five-day experience invites participants into a slower, more intentional rhythm shaped by yoga, breathwork, meditation, Vietnamese healing traditions, cultural immersion, and meaningful connection in a peaceful riverside sanctuary.
Destination Deluxe: Your work blends deep inner inquiry with embodied practices. How did this path begin for you, and what led you to facilitating retreats?
Diana Nicoli: My path found me, not the other way around. Twenty-two years ago, I was in full career mode — pushing, striving, succeeding. Then came a thyroid tumor diagnosis. The shock was profound. Life forced me to stop and ask a question I had been avoiding: What actually matters?
In that stillness, everything shifted. Through yoga, breathwork, meditation, and the study of Buddhist philosophy and Eastern wisdom traditions, I slowly came back to myself. The anxiety softened. I remembered something simple and essential: I am alive.
That breaking-open became my devotion. I trained deeply, studied with extraordinary teachers, and immersed myself in understanding consciousness and transformation. About ten years ago, I began facilitating retreats — not to fix people, but to hold space for them to reconnect with their own wholeness.
What moves me most is witnessing people reclaim themselves and step into their full power. That is the real work. That is the gift.
Destination Deluxe: The wellness space is increasingly crowded. What do you feel is missing from many retreats today?
Diana Nicoli: Rather than focusing on what’s missing, I focus on what is essential: the quality of the environment being held.
In my retreats, we don’t simply teach techniques or stack activities. We intentionally plant seeds — seeds of love, connection, and possibility — and create the conditions where those seeds can genuinely grow.
When people gather with true intention, something extraordinary happens. But it only unfolds when the space feels deeply safe, positive, and held. That sense of emotional safety is everything.
What we cultivate is a quiet but powerful feeling of wellbeing — about ourselves, about one another, and about the lives we are creating. And what happens in retreat does not stay there. It ripples into relationships, work, leadership, and how people show up in the world.
When space is held with love and presence, people remember who they are. And from that remembering, they live differently.
Destination Deluxe: You often speak about transformation beyond relaxation. How do you personally define a “successful” retreat experience?
Diana Nicoli: A successful retreat isn’t measured by how relaxed someone feels in the moment. It’s measured by what shifts inside them — and how that shift continues once they return home.
People feel genuinely seen. They experience real connection — to themselves, to others, and to something larger than themselves. They access clarity around what truly matters and feel safe enough to be fully authentic.
The real measure of success is integration. They don’t just feel different for a few days. They are different. They make different choices. They relate differently. They lead differently.
Months later, when someone tells me a retreat changed how they show up in their relationship or at work, I know the work has landed. Transformation that lasts is the only kind that matters.
Destination Deluxe: Your approach is intuitive yet grounded. How do you ensure emotional safety and structure while holding deep work in a group setting?
Diana Nicoli: Safety always comes first. I create a clear container with shared agreements around confidentiality, respect, and consent. Boundaries create trust, and trust allows depth.
This work is also deeply collaborative. I co-create the retreat experience with Cristina Dörig and Vivienne Tang from Destination Deluxe. Together, we balance structure with spaciousness.
Our days have rhythm — grounding practices like yoga and breathwork in the morning, cultural immersion to engage the mind, and ceremony to open soul space. Within that framework, there is room for each individual’s process.
My role is to witness and facilitate, not to fix. Cristina and Vivienne ensure that every practical detail is held with care, allowing participants to fully surrender to the experience.
True transformation happens in co-creation. One person’s breakthrough becomes medicine for the entire group. And our shared responsibility is to ensure people are gently and safely integrated afterward.
Destination Deluxe: What core principles underpin your retreat work?
Diana Nicoli: Everything I do rests on three principles: love, connection, and flow.
Love means creating an environment where people feel deeply safe and nourished — where every detail invites them back into self-acceptance.
Connection runs through every layer. Connection to the body through practice, to others through shared experience, and to place through culture and nature. Whether in Marrakesh or now along the rivers of Hoi An, we don’t observe from a distance, we immerse.
Flow emerges naturally when love and connection are present. Our days unfold organically, moving between inner work, cultural exploration, and sensory pleasure without force.
Every experience — whether a sound bath under the stars or a quiet moment in the gardens — becomes an invitation to remember who you truly are.
Destination Deluxe: What kinds of shifts do participants most commonly report after working with you?
Diana Nicoli: The shifts are deeply personal, yet consistently profound.
Some people gain clarity about what truly matters. Others feel reawakened, inspired, or deeply seen for the first time in years. Many experience all of it.
One woman told me weeks later, “My soul felt seen. I’m breathing again. I feel inspired about my life in a way I haven’t felt in years.”
That is the essence of Bloom & Grow. We create a sacred space where what needs to awaken in you can do so — naturally, without pressure. And that sense of aliveness travels home with you.
Destination Deluxe: Why do retreats create breakthroughs that are harder to access in everyday life?
Diana Nicoli: In daily life, we cope. We manage. We perform.
A retreat removes those layers. You step into a sacred container — away from routine, expectations, and distraction — and something softens.
It’s not just the time away. It’s the collective energy. When people gather with shared intention, you feel held, witnessed, and supported. That changes everything.
The environment itself becomes part of the transformation. Beauty, culture, nature — they all conspire to bring you back to yourself. You don’t just think differently. You become different.
Destination Deluxe: Is there a moment during your retreats that often becomes a turning point?
Diana Nicoli: The turning point rarely happens when people expect it. Transformation is like planting a seed. We create the conditions — safety, love, presence — but we don’t force the bloom.
For some, it happens during breathwork. For others, during a ceremony beneath the Moroccan sky. Often, it’s in the quiet moments — alone in the gardens, feeling grounded, realizing they are finally home within themselves. When the conditions are right, your own wisdom knows what to do. Trust is the key.
Destination Deluxe: Integration is often overlooked. How do you support participants once they return home?
Diana Nicoli: Integration is where the real work begins. A retreat plants the seed, but each person tends it in their own way. Some continue with one-on-one support. Others allow the experience to unfold organically over time.
There is no single right path. Some come for rest, others for deep transformation. All are welcome.
A retreat is a sacred pause — a moment of remembering. From there, each person continues their journey in their own rhythm.
Destination Deluxe: For someone feeling drawn to your upcoming Vietnam retreat but also hesitant, what would you want them to know?
Diana Nicoli: Hesitation is natural — and often meaningful. You don’t need to have clarity. You don’t need to be “ready.” You only need willingness. You will not be alone. You will be surrounded by others who feel the same pull, the same fear, the same curiosity.
This retreat is not about becoming someone new. It’s about coming home to who you already are. If something in you is quietly saying yes, even through fear, listen. That is your wisdom speaking. Your bloom is waiting.
