Facial Cupping is the next wellness trend. It’s a facial rejuvenation treatment with real results.
WHAT IS FACIAL CUPPING?
Cupping has been all over the news recently, due to Michael Phelps’ purple marks. But you may not have heard of facial cupping. This ancient Chinese therapy has long been used to clear sinuses, congestion and drain toxins from the skin, however it also has other natural beauty benefits.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Facial Cupping encourages chi and blood circulation in the facial muscles and skin, drawing nutrients to the skin surface and enhancing the absorption of serum and creams. It promotes fluid drainage in the lymph system. It is like a deep tissue massage for the face and neck. It is also recommended for people post-surgery to help with scar tissue healing and fluid removal.
WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT ENTAIL?
A natural facial oil is applied to the cleansed skin and various cups in different sizes are moved across the face. Smaller ones are used around the eyes and lips, and larger ones for the cheeks, neck and forehead. Facial cupping can be used as a stand-alone treatment or as part as a facial acupuncture session. Treatment sessions usually last around 15 to 30 minutes.
WILL IT LEAVE MARKS ON MY FACE?
Facial cupping does not leave marks on the skin as with traditional cupping. This is due to decreased suction intensity and constant movement of the cups. The cups can also be used to stimulate certain acupuncture points for added benefits. There is a great feeling of warmth, relaxation and vitality to the face after treatment. Other noticeable differences may be decreased puffiness, less obvious dark circles under the eyes and less noticeable fine lines and wrinkles.
So why not add some facial cupping to your skincare routine?
