In 2012, Belgin Askoy, one of our Destination Deluxe Awards judges, launched her dream of celebrating a day dedicated to wellness. The main aim of this special day is to pause and think, to recognize the value of our lives, to be free from the stress of everyday city life and bad habits, to make peace with ourselves and to raise awareness about living well and increase motivation for more than just one day of the year. This year, Global Wellness Day will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
THINK MAGENTA
Marking the 11th annual Global Wellness Day, following 2020’s never-before-done 24-hour free livestream celebration and 2021’s very successful 12-hour free livestream celebration in the face of the pandemic, this year’s special day will be celebrated mainly with in-person activities, workshops and talks across the globe incorporating the theme – #ThinkMagenta.

In addition to the above activities, there will be a free three-hour live stream celebration featuring world-renowned wellness experts, performers and athletes. A GLOBAL EVENT
Since its inception, the event has grown from being celebrated in one country to being observed in 170 countries in thousands of locations. Senegal, the Czech Republic, Algeria, Jordan, Guiné-Bissau and Zambia will be celebrating Global Wellness Day for the first time.
“During the pandemic, having the world realize the importance of what we have pioneered 11 years ago with Global Wellness Day is truly indispensable,” says Global Wellness Day Founder Belgin Aksoy. “GWD 2022’s theme, Think Magenta, is not about being optimistic – it is about being realistic. Things happen in our lives and we have the choice to call them good or bad things. Sometimes difficulties, failures or illnesses become the greatest teachers. No matter what is happening, we can always find a way to choose joy. In this respect, although Global Wellness Day lasts for 24 hours, our message is intended to last a lifetime.”
