Fitness Queen Hannah Bronfman on her Adidas Collaboration and Booty Exercises
A DJ, model, entrepreneur, fitness aficionado and social media sensation from New York, Hannah Bronfman has already achieved what most girls on Instagram can only dream of. Vivienne Tang sits down with the beauty maven to discuss booty workouts, Snapchat vs Instagram and how to deal with negative comments
YOU’VE BECOME A HOUSEHOLD NAME, MAINLY VIA INSTAGRAM AND YOUR FITNESS WEBSITE. COULD YOU IMAGINE A LIFE WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA?
I definitely can’t imagine a world without it. I’m using these platforms to showcase my lifestyle, and it definitely has its ups. I love social media, but I have friends who still don’t get Snapchat.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS?
Quirky, charismatic and caring.
THE CHARACTERISTIC YOU LIKE LEAST IN YOURSELF
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG?
A ballerina. I was a serious dancer for a long time.
WHEN DO YOU USE INSTAGRAM? WHEN DO YOU USE SNAPCHAT?
Instagram is a curated version of my life. Snapchat is the real deal, #nofilter [laughs].
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH UNNECCESSARY NEGATIVE COMMENTS?
I delete comments. It’s not worth one of your other followers getting upset over that. We don’t have time for that.
DOES NEGATIVE FEEDBACK BOTHER YOU THOUGH?
In the beginning it did. Now it doesn’t matter. It’s just one of those things. Everyone’s going to have an opinion. You can’t force people to think a certain way. You live your best way. You do what you can.
WHAT’S NEXT? ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY COLLABORATIONS?
I’m working with Adidas. I’m the face of their campaign, and hopefully a line will come in 2017. And then I’m working with a company called PopSugar. We’re working on a digital series. It’s called Hannahgram. So it’s a show about all the verticals I’m interested in, so mainly lifestyle.
SO IT’S A REALITY TV SHOW?
It’s more of a scripted show. It’s planned. For instance, I love food photos. And maybe I’m into learning how to plate dessert. So I’ll go team up with the pastry chefs from Momofuku and they’ll show me how to perfect this. And that could be an episode. It’s based on my life, but it’s definitely a thought-out process.
YOUR FAVORITE HOTEL OR RESORT
I love the Upper House [in Hong Kong] so much, but I also love a good spa experience.
YOUR FAVORITE SPA
The Amangiri in Utah is beautiful. Insane. The facilities are beautiful.
BEST HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE
I love Byron Bay, Australia. It’s amazing there, really beautiful. It really feels like you’re at the end of the world.
YOUR TRAVEL ATTIRE
Comfortably chic. If I’m going to be wearing a pair of sweats, I want them to be really cute sweats, some Adidas by Stella McCartney sweats.
YOUR BEAUTY SECRET
I love face masks. I’m really into Korean beauty with all the serums and technology. I’m more into eating your way to being beautiful as opposed to achieving it topically. I really try to have nourishing amounts of…whether it’s eating lots of avocado or coconuts. You are what you eat. I used to have terrible skin. I really rebounded by what I was putting in my body.
YOUR FAVORITE SCENT
No, I don’t wear any fragrances. I’ve never really found one that I like.
YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT
China Club in Hong Kong. I don’t know if I’ll get to go there this time, but I love it there.
FOOD YOU CRAVE
WHAT KEEPS YOU UP AT NIGHT?
Mainly my company, HBFit. In the last year, HBFit really turned into a website destination for like-minded women. We’re a team of three. So I’m very hands-on. It’s me, my writer and my editorial director. We put out 30 pieces of content a month.
DO YOU WANT TO GROW AND EXPAND IT?
We want to explore what it could mean to have an offline experience. We want to go into product.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU AND YOUR FIANCÉ, BRENDAN FALLIS, ARE GOING TO WORK ON TOGETHER?
We’ve thought about it. I don’t know about the music industry, but we’ve definitely thought about a few different things. I don’t know if we’ll end up acting on it. We have so many thoughts. But never say never. We definitely want to do something together, we just don’t necessarily know when it’s the right time. We’re both working on so many things separately, but I think it might be a product.
LAST MUSIC YOU DOWNLOADED?
It’s a Diplo song, Be right there.
YOU’RE FAMOUS FOR YOUR BOOTY WORKOUTS. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BOOTY EXERCISE?
You’re on all fours and then you put one leg out straight behind you, and then you lift it up and over. I would be lying to you if I said squats.
WHAT’S YOUR LEAST FAVORITE?
I think they’re like spiders or something, when you’re in a plank position and you bring one knee up to your elbow. I hate that. Also, my hip flexors are a bit weird. So doing things where I have to move my hip flexors is a bit uncomfortable.
DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO?
Mind right, body tight.
