BRAND STORY
During the late nineteenth century, pioneering horticulturist William Walker Wildsmith created the gardens and arboretum of Heckfield Place in Hampshire, England. His experimentation, innovation and radical approach were key to the advances of botany in the 19th century. Originally launching in 2018, today the team at Wildsmith are encouraged to remain curious, embrace innovation, and seek new insights to establish a new benchmark in responsible skin health and wellbeing. For all products that can, clinically trials are undertaken at 7, 14 and 28 days to reaffirm product efficacy.
Following this, the launch of their award-winning space, The Bothy in 2023 offers an integrated approach to wellbeing and features healing treatments to boost mental, physical and spiritual regeneration. Guests are encouraged to created a deeper connection to themselves and the nature around them.
MADE RESPONSIBLY
Making their products and processes responsibly is vital, which is why Wildsmith works closely with suppliers to implement responsible manufacturing and sustainable production practices that minimize disruption to the natural world. When it comes to packaging, the end life of an item and its recyclability is taken into account. The majority of the packaging is made from recyclable glass, aluminum or ceramics and every effort is made to create less secondary packaging.
Fully recyclable paper is used as it can be recycled in local facilities or home recycling bins. You won’t find any glazing or embossing on the packaging as it could interfere with its ability to be recycled.
Wildsmith has also partnered with the Future Plus, a sustainability management and reporting platform that provides assessments, goals and practical steps to create a better impact across climate, environment, social economic, diversity and inclusion categories.
THE BOTHY BY WILDSMITH
At the heart of Heckfield’s hidden landscape lies The Bothy, the home of Wildsmith and a space designed to return guests to a simpler time and was created to nurture and transform health and wellbeing of its visitors. Situated in the grounds of the Heckfield Estate in Hampshire, The Bothy is fully connected to its environment and its natural surroundings and is meticulously crafted with ancient and natural materials. The 400 acres of William Walker Wildsmith’s Woodland and pleasure grounds boasts views across the Hampshire countryside, the perfect location for guests to reconnect to nature’s rhythm and embrace nature’s pace. The Bothy aims to be a space to reconnect with nature, to alter and rebalance the perception of time.
It features six treatment rooms, the 18m x 6m Waters, thermal and hydro-therapies. The Waters is a chlorine-free space of relaxation and healing that uses ionization and natural minerals ions of copper, silver, and gold. The Oak Terrace is home to outdoor hydrotherapy, healing thermal experiences including sauna, steam room, temperature-and-mood-shifting. The three movement spaces include two fitness rooms and a Movement Studio. To complete the wellbeing experience, nourish your body with creations by culinary director Skye Gyngell at the Sun Room, an intimate dining area with a small plant-based menu.
WILDSMITH TREATMENTS
Wildsmith treatments have been designed to support recovery, repair and balance; and specifically developed to be experienced at the most ideal time of day and work with the body’s Circadian Rhythm. Focusing on longer treatments (90 mins plus) and guests are provided with a menu that includes the Wildsmith Radical Botany Facial, incorporating advanced myofascial release, acupressure, craniosacral holds and breathwork that helps to centre and energise the mind and deliver cleaner, healthier, more radiant looking skin. Wildsmith Time provides a bespoke reset and includes therapeutic massage sequence, using essential oils precisely formulated for the time of day of the treatment, includes craniosacral holds, abdominal massage and foot reflex zone therapy to help activate energy pathways.
The Bothy is also home to highly trained wellbeing practitioners who specialize in naturopathy, osteopathy, reiki, bodywork and will guide and help deliver profound results.
