Dr Gerry Bodeker, Chair of the Mental Wellness Initiative
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: For me, the cornerstone of wellbeing has been my twice-daily Transcendental Meditation practice, which I’ve maintained since November 1974. Alongside this, I adhere to a vegetarian lifestyle, have abstained from alcohol since my mid-20s, and make exercise a daily priority. Nature plays a central role in my life, as does consciously choosing to focus on positivity each day. These practices are non-negotiable, providing me with clarity, balance, and sustained energy.
Obstacles: None. It comes down to defining what truly matters in life and prioritizing the habits that bring the greatest benefits.
Pro-tip: For deeper insights, I recommend reading the White Paper on Mental Wellness that my colleagues and I produced for the Global Wellness Institute. It’s a free resource, packed with valuable information to guide your wellness journey.
Barry White, Founder of THIA Wellness & Entrepreneur
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: Routine is a luxury I rarely experience. My focus is on maximizing quality time with my family and friends, doing whatever I can to prioritize those moments.
Obstacles: Time and energy — there’s never enough of either.
Pro-tip: If you’re also juggling multiple aspects of life, here are my go-to daily hacks for staying on top of things:
- Hapbee for better sleep and quick power naps.
- AURA to aid sleep, take mental breaks, and during travel.
- THERAFACE mask for my evening skincare routine.
- Neuro Mints to give my brain a quick boost when I need it.
- Blacklabel Alpha Brain to maintain mental sharpness.
- A monthly IV drip — whatever I can get to keep everything running smoothly.
Johnny Chang, Founder of Spa Solutions Shanghai
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: I make sure to meditate at least once a day. After living a hectic and stressful life for many years, I reached a point where it severely impacted my health. I was fortunate that a close friend introduced me to proper meditation techniques, which helped reduce my stress and anxiety. Stress, as a concept, has only been recognized for just over fifty years, but today it’s a prevalent issue affecting the majority of the global population. In particular, post-COVID, stress has become an undeniable part of daily life, something we must all learn to manage.
Obstacles: Work is a significant source of stress for many of us. Whether it’s unrealistic deadlines, a heavy workload, or navigating conflicts at work, it can be overwhelming. While I can’t eliminate stress entirely, practicing meditation consistently helps me significantly lower its impact.
Pro-tip: Learn to balance your life, as we only live once. When stress hits, dream of faraway places. Imagination, sensations, and the colors from distant lands can nourish your mind and body.
Kathryn Moore, MD of Spa Connectors
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: Twice-daily dog walks are a must, along with an ever-evolving mix of supplements and adaptogens — Chaga, peptides, collagen, essential amino acids, electrolytes, Ashwagandha, creatine, and more! I’m always on the lookout for the latest health hack. Breakfast usually involves a protein shake, and I try to fit in a meditation and LED light therapy session daily. If time allows, I also make visits to the sauna and ice bath for added recovery.
Obstacles: Time is always the biggest challenge. You must make it a priority!
Pro-tip: Schedule everything in your diary and make it a habit. Also, don’t neglect strength and core work — something I’ve been meaning to incorporate more regularly!
Vivienne Tang, Founder & CEO of Destination Deluxe
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: Regular movement — including running, hiking, dancing, swimming, and light weight training — along with time in nature and deep social connections, are essential for my emotional resilience and mental balance. I also take a variety of supplements, particularly for my gut health, which are continuously updated and perfectly optimized based on regular blood and stool tests to enhance my wellbeing and longevity. Furthermore, I frequently listen to wellness-enhancing frequencies. I’m a big fan of Sapien Medicine. Twice a week, I practice 5Rhythms dance. This has been crucial and a complete game-changer, allowing me to fully live and express my true authentic self in a profound way.
Obstacles: Balancing wellness practices with a busy lifestyle can be challenging, but prioritizing my health has become non-negotiable.
Pro-tip: A well-regulated nervous system is key to sustaining overall wellness. Engaging in neuro-regulation practices with a NARM practitioner has been instrumental in my health, wellbeing, and personal growth. This therapeutic approach has helped me address deep-seated patterns that no other technique, such as meditation, energy healing, etc, was able to shift, significantly enhancing my emotional resilience and mental balance. It has also improved all my relationships and deepened my capacity to engage and be present in them.
Stephan Wagner, Wellness Director at Red Sea Global
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: Each morning starts with a glass of water mixed with apple cider vinegar, lemon, psyllium husk, and iodine salt — this helps cleanse the gut and promote good bacteria. I follow it with a 20-minute walk and a 10-minute morning gymnastics routine, which includes joint mobility exercises and a few jumps to activate the Chi.
Obstacles: None.
Pro-tip: Stephan recommends optimizing gym time with a 20-minute full-body workout by using supersets. This involves working different muscle groups back-to-back without rest, completing three sets of 15 reps at 80% of your max power. For instance, alternate between leg presses and vertical rows for a fast, efficient workout that can be done 3-5 times a week.
Aldina Duarte Ramos, Founder & President of Spoon And Spoon Agency
Daily Non-Negotiable Routine: My daily routine is simple and focused on posture, stretching, and hydration — it’s all about discipline. The first thing I do when I wake up is drink a glass of cold water. Then, I dedicate 10 minutes to a flow of posture and stretching exercises for both my face and body. This short practice helps me stay energized and grounded throughout the day. Good posture prevents muscle and joint pain, particularly in the back and neck, while postural exercises strengthen the muscles supporting the spine, enhancing stability and mobility. I especially enjoy the Warrior II and Reverse Warrior poses in yoga. To finish, I do a gentle face massage while applying my serums, lotions, and creams.
Obstacles: On rushed days, I shorten the routine, but I never skip it — consistency is key.
Pro-tip: Start small with one (small) exercice and practice every day for 21 days. Find your path. Feel the difference.
