Focus on the joy of discovering your natural being at a retreat in Cal Reiet, Spain. This retreat encompasses three key elements. Its primary focus lies in the exploration of the natural state of the mind through meditation, enhanced by the practice of natural awareness during movement and through group discussions on personal and social transformation.
The meditation teachings follow the Tibetan “Mahamudra” tradition, which aims to rest in the inherent state of being by deeply understanding the ungraspable nature of all phenomena. This transformative meditation requires a heartfelt release, made possible through trust and insight into the liberated essence of our minds.
Whether in stillness or in motion, we cultivate an awakened, immediate experience of the present moment and perceive all sensory encounters as gateways to a simple, timeless existence. Seeing, hearing, feeling, and thinking – all forms of experience – reveal themselves as the spontaneous interplay of ever-changing phenomena. Through continuous investigation of the ever-shifting and intangible nature of “what is,” we learn to recognize the true essence of our experiences. In this process, the fluidity of the present moment unveils itself, and we also uncover the forces that shape this unfolding. The path of awakening, embracing the state of “simply being like this”, becomes a deeply personal journey.
Each morning, Lama Lhündrup elucidates the teachings of Mahamudra and its unique approach to cultivating peace of mind and insight. Rather than relying on traditional texts, he freely imparts wisdom and guides meditations during these sessions. Participants are encouraged to ask questions after each introduction.
During the late morning and evening, Verónica An, an experienced Yoga and Qi Gong teacher, leads us into the realm of “embodied flow”, where awareness, breath, and physical movements, including asana-based or dance-like sequences, harmoniously merge. Verónica also offers a healing sound session as part of the retreat.
In the afternoons, Lhündrup provides insights from a Buddhist perspective on socially relevant topics, followed by an interactive exchange among the participants. The goal is to share our individual approaches and inspirations in shaping social engagement, grounded in an awareness of our interconnectedness (“inter-being”) and our responsibility towards future generations. This retreat is specifically designed for entrepreneurs, business leaders, educators, and other influential individuals who play a significant role in shaping society.

PRACTITIONER
Lama Tilmann Lhündrup
Buddhist Meditation Teacher
Lama Tilmann (Lhündrup) Borghardt was born in 1959 in Germany near the North Sea. His Buddhist journey began in 1978, initially in the Zen tradition. From 1981, he immersed himself in an intensive three-year phase of meditation following the Burmese Vipassana tradition. In 1987, after completing his training as a doctor and homeopath, he embarked on a three-and-a-half-year meditation retreat guided by the Tibetan master Gendün Rinpoche. This transformative experience unfolded in a log cabin nestled within the enchanting French forest.
Deeply inspired by the profound practice of Mahamudra meditation, Lama Tilmann pursued a second retreat as a monk in a monastery in 1991. At the behest of his teacher Gendün Rinpoche, he assumed the responsibility of supervising these extended meditative retreats for 17 years, in addition to translating numerous Tibetan texts into German.
Since 2004, Lama Tilmann has been sharing his wisdom and teachings across various European countries and Brazil. He leads meditation seminars in numerous locations and, since 2009, has been a lecturer at the “Institute for Essential Psychotherapy”, which he co-founded. Together with friends, he established the non-profit publishing house Norbu Verlag, dedicated to disseminating texts from the Buddhist tradition. Lama Tilmann considers it paramount to convey the essence of this ancient wisdom teaching in a contemporary and tangible manner. To achieve this, he integrates insights from psychotherapy, meditation, and the wisdom of diverse Buddhist schools.
In 2011, Lama Tilmann left the French monastery and settled in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 2016, he founded the “Ekayana Institute for Contemporary Buddhism” in the serene Black Forest. This meditation center provides a sanctuary for up to 28 individuals to practice Mahamudra meditation for months or even years. Whenever his schedule permits, Lama Tilmann offers courses for those interested in deepening their practice and studies.
