Datu Wellness presents a retreat shaped around introspection, meditative attention, presence, and therapeutic bodywork. Across the week, meditation, yoga, pranayama, walking practice, and five private body treatments come together to support both the inner and physical layers of retreat. The program takes place in Umbria, within more than 3,000 hectares of protected natural reserve.
It is held at Eremito, a monastic-inspired residence designed for withdrawal, simplicity, and continuity of practice. Created by celebrated hotelier Marcello Murzilli, the property reimagines modern luxury through solitude and stillness.
The setting has a long history linked to contemplative life. Monastic architecture and daily rituals were used to study restraint, attention, and how to move through life with intention. Eremito builds on this foundation. Stone structures, cellular rooms, and a close relationship with the surrounding land shape the experience from the moment you arrive.
This is not a retreat built on seated meditation alone. The contemplative work remains at the center, but it is supported by daily movement, breathwork, walking practice, body treatments, and nourishing meals. The result is a retreat that asks guests to slow down inwardly while also giving the body care, release, and support throughout the process.
The program draws from Eastern spiritual lineages, where knowledge is passed through practice and lived experience. Datu Wellness works with teachers whose methods come from traditions in India and the East. Their approach is direct and grounded, with guidance that stays clear and consistent throughout the retreat.
The retreat follows a meditative framework based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, with focus on pratyahara and dhyana. Practice develops through repetition. Seated meditation forms the core, supported by walking practice and periods of quiet attention. Over time, attention begins to carry across different parts of the day.
Gentle asana and pranayama prepare the body and breath, helping create the conditions for steadiness. The five private body treatments are woven through the week as a physical complement to the meditative work. They help release accumulated tension, support integration, and give the body more room to absorb the clarity developed through practice. Meals are simple and seasonal, forming part of the daily rhythm and supporting both physical and mental balance.
Surrounded by forest and open land, the retreat lets natural sounds carry through the day and offers nights free from artificial light, creating space for focus, rest, and rejuvenation.
