OVERVIEW
A mere ten-minute walk from the city center, overlooking the Alster lake, The George Hotel Hamburg, which is part of Design Hotels, is located in the super trendy St. Georg district. Proudly British with a modern Hamburg twist, it looks more like a gentlemen’s club than a contemporary hotel. Hamburg’s relationship with England harks back centuries. It is no coincidence that the Beatles started out in Hamburg. Inspired by this unique bond, The George’s owner and designer wanted to highlight this unusual relationship and created the hotel’s theme around it, combining traditional British luxury with modern design elements. Think patterned wallpapers, rocking chairs, clubby leather sofas, a classic library, and a stylish smoker’s lounge.
THE IN-CROWD
The bar, the upscale Italian restaurant DaCaio, and the dramatic rooftop terrace are frequented by a sophisticated, trendy and fashionable set. Hang out with the in-crowd here for a chance to see and be seen. The friendly staff are as attractive as the clientele, welcoming you with an understated elegance. Opt for a cocktail from the 60-page drinks menu, and follow it up with a signature pasta dish from the daily changing menu, paired with an exquisite wine.
DESIGN CHIC
The George easily celebrates the old, while marrying it with modern elements, giving it a timeless makeover. Designer Sibylle von Heyden created a number of spaces, such as the smoker’s lounge with dark leather furniture, stylish meeting rooms with timber flooring, a relaxing rooftop spa, a restaurant and bar, as well as a home-away-from-home wallpapered library.
ROOMS
There are a total of 125 rooms hidden away in The George, including 118 guestrooms, five suites and two penthouses. The warm interior colors range from cocoa to champagne, and stylish wallpaper comes in various designs.
SPA
The DAYSPA located on the 6th floor of the hotel also features a partially canopied terrace. The menu includes classic massages, as well as hot stone, detox and ayurveda massage treatments, foot reflexology, facials and mani pedis.
The sauna, the relaxation lounge as well as the spa roof terrace are accessible to hotel guests for a fee of 5.00 Euro per person per day.
