OVERVIEW
Set within the lush landscape of northern Kerala, tulåh Clinical Wellness is an integrative health sanctuary where clinical medicine, traditional healing and luxury hospitality exist within one coordinated environment.
Located near Calicut in the foothills of the Western Ghats, the 30-acre sanctuary draws on Kerala’s long association with Ayurveda while embracing advanced diagnostics, functional medicine, regenerative therapies, clinical nutrition, movement science and psychological wellbeing. With just 35 rooms and suites, tulåh offers an intimate setting in which every guest’s experience can be shaped around their individual physiology, lifestyle and aspirations.
The sanctuary was founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Faizal E. Kottikollon following his own experience of combining neurological expertise, physiotherapy and Ayurvedic care to address a serious spinal condition. That experience inspired a wider vision: to bring disciplines that are often practised separately into meaningful dialogue and create a more complete path to healing.
His wife and co-founder, entrepreneur and cultural patron Shabana Faizal, has helped shape tulåh’s artistic and cultural identity. Art, architecture, ritual and human connection are treated as integral parts of the healing environment rather than decorative additions to it.
WELLNESS
At the heart of tulåh is the belief that true health begins with balance.
Rather than separating physical health from mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, tulåh considers the whole person. Genetics, medical history, metabolism, movement, nutrition, stress, sleep, environment and emotional health all contribute to the individual picture.
Healing is therefore approached as an evolving process rather than a fixed protocol. Modern medical insight provides precision and measurable data, while Ayurveda, yoga, sound healing, traditional Chinese medicine, naturopathy and contemplative practices offer complementary ways to restore equilibrium.
The objective is not simply to provide temporary relief during a retreat. tulåh aims to help guests understand their health more deeply, address underlying imbalances and develop practices that can support lasting wellbeing after they return home.
THE INTEGRATED PATH
Every tulåh experience unfolds through four connected chapters: Diagnose, Assess, Heal and Sustain.
Diagnose
The journey begins before guests arrive at tulåh, with doctor consultations and microbiome and genomic testing providing an early understanding of their health. These insights inform the personalised journey curated for each guest and are complemented on arrival by advanced diagnostics, performance testing and further expert consultations. Together, they create a comprehensive picture of the guest’s current health, physiological function and lifestyle.
Central to this stage is the proprietary tulåh Life Index™, which evaluates seven interconnected dimensions: cardiovascular health, muscle health, immune health and inflammation, gut health, lifestyle risk, quality of life and stress management.
Depending on the guest’s individual needs, the diagnostic process may also include preventive medicine, medical imaging, functional testing and performance assessment.
Assess
Results are reviewed collectively by tulåh’s doctor-led Multidisciplinary Clinical Wellness Council. Rather than relying on the perspective of a single practitioner, the council brings together experts from modern medicine, functional medicine, Ayurveda, psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy, sports science, traditional Chinese medicine, naturopathy, yoga and genetic counselling.
This collaborative assessment turns a collection of test results into a personalised and coherent plan of care.
Heal
Each program draws from five integrated therapeutic modalities: Mind–Body–Energy, Movement & Performance, Personalised Nutrition, Regenerative & Biotech, and Hands-On Therapies.
Treatments are selected, sequenced and adapted according to the guest’s biology, clinical requirements and readiness. A program might combine medical treatment and rehabilitation with Ayurvedic therapies, therapeutic movement, nutrition, meditation or sound healing, but only where each component serves the individual’s wider health objectives.
Sustain
Before leaving, guests receive a personalised post-care plan covering nutrition, movement, mental wellbeing and everyday lifestyle practices. Continued guidance, tracking and support are delivered through the tulåh app, helping guests integrate what they have learned into daily life.

CLINICAL AND THERAPEUTICAL FACILITIES
tulåh has been designed to unite the comfort of a luxury retreat with the capabilities of a sophisticated clinical wellness center facility.
Purpose-built medical facilities include consultation and diagnostic rooms, an operating theatre and dedicated intensive-care rooms. This infrastructure allows selected procedures, medical monitoring and post-treatment recovery to take place within the same restorative environment.
Diagnostic capabilities include MRI and CT scanning, DEXA, mammography, X-ray, ECG, echocardiography and pulmonary function testing. Selected interventions span gastrointestinal, gynaecological, orthopaedic, respiratory, regenerative and dermatological care.
For cases requiring broader specialist support, tulåh collaborates with Meitra Hospital, its JCI-accredited institution approximately 20 minutes away. Developed in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic doctors, Meitra provides access to advanced technology and more than 200 specialists.
The sanctuary’s wellness facilities include a 14-room spa, movement and rehabilitation spaces, a gym, sauna, racket-sport courts and a large therapeutic hydrotherapy pool. Meditation, live cultural experiences and clinical yoga form part of the daily rhythm.
One of tulåh’s most distinctive spaces is the Sonorium, an immersive sound-healing dome. Specially engineered instruments and resonant frequencies translate ancient ideas about sound and vibration into a contemporary therapeutic experience.
ACCOMMODATION
tulåh’s rooms and suites are conceived as places of stillness. Natural materials, gentle curves, soft light and open landscape views create an atmosphere conducive to deep rest.
Accommodation ranges from restorative and clinical rooms to spacious garden, terrace, sanctuary, royal and presidential suites. Across the different categories, the design language remains calm, organic and closely connected to nature.
The sanctuary’s architecture avoids hard, institutional lines in favour of fluid forms and earthy materials. Landscaped gardens draw inspiration from Kerala’s botanical heritage, allowing the natural setting to remain a constant presence throughout the guest experience.
NOURISHMENT
Nutrition is approached as both clinical support and daily pleasure.
Meals are personalized where necessary and informed by each guest’s health assessment, constitution and program goals. Clinical nutritionists consider factors such as gut health, metabolic function, inflammation and individual physiology when developing dietary recommendations.
Seasonal produce, herbs and fruits—many grown in tulåh’s own gardens—shape a food philosophy grounded in freshness, regional knowledge and responsible sourcing. The intention is to make nourishment sustainable and enjoyable, giving guests practical habits they can continue at home.
MEDICAL AND WELLNESS TEAM
tulåh’s care model is multidisciplinary by design.
Its team includes modern medical doctors, functional medicine specialists, Ayurvedic doctors, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, sports scientists, clinical nutritionists, genetic counsellors, yoga practitioners, sound healers and specialists in traditional Chinese medicine and naturopathy.
Oral medicine and maxillofacial expertise also form part of the wider diagnostic picture, recognizing the relationship between oral and systemic health.
By reviewing each case collaboratively, the team can identify connections that may be missed when symptoms are considered in isolation. This coordinated model follows the guest from assessment through treatment, rehabilitation and long-term support.
THE WISDOM OF VEDANTA
tulåh’s approach extends beyond the physical body to the quality of the mind and intellect.
Through a collaboration with the Vedanta Academy founded by Swami A. Parthasarathy, a resident teacher visits tulåh each month to lead daily sessions. Vedanta is presented as a practical philosophy for clearer thinking, emotional balance and wiser living, complementing the sanctuary’s medical and therapeutic work.
